Nielsen Online Survey

If there is one thing that I love, it’s free money! Today I want to talk about Nielsen Mobile Panel App and hopefully answer any potential questions you might have.

What I love about Nielsen Mobile Panel is that you get paid to use your smartphone, seriously. The best part? It takes about 15 minutes for you to complete their survey and to download the app, that’s all! $50 for 15 minutes of your time is a nifty deal.

Is Nielsen Mobile Panel Legit Or A Scam?

Nielsen is one of the most legitimate market research companies that exist to date. You might have heard of “Nielsen ratings”, usually it’s synonymous with “TV ratings”. Well, it’s from the same company. The only difference is that you can get paid by  the Nielsen mobile app.

Nielsen Mobile Panel Participation

So, what does Nielsen Mobile track? It tracks your day to day internet activity in return for your app. Now, as for the exact contents, this will vary for a device and they will disclose it before you install the app.

So I Get Paid To Participate?

Yes, you get paid $50 for those who chose to participate in the program. Now, you do get paid yearly, but since you’ll only need to install the app and fill out the survey once, this is the easiest $50 you’ll ever make.
Compare that to the other 50 apps on your phone that don’t tell you that they track your data and they don’t pay you! That’s probably worth another blog post about my rants, but I feel a lot better getting paid for doing my normal day to day phone activities.
And all you need to do is use your smartphone or tablet device the way you normally do. Set it and forget it, my favorite type of passive income.

Do I Need A Credit Card for Nielsen Mobile?

Nope! All you need to do is fill out your survey honestly and you’ll be able to participate!

How To Get Started

It’s a pretty straightforward process, simply click the link and
you will need to fill out some basic info. When you fill out the information you’ll likely be redirected to a better-looking mobile version (I’ll admit their initial form looks like doo-doo).

From there you’ll get an email confirmation that includes your next steps.

  • Click the link and fill out the survey (10 minutes)
  • Once you fill out the survey you’ll have the ability to download and install the app (2 minutes).
  • Once installed, makes sure the app is connected to your account and that’s it! (2 minutes)

In about 15 minutes you’re all set! As you, as you download and install the app, you are designated your reward.

Simple Installation

Once you fill out your information, you will have a link that you need to fill out the survey in order to participate. All of the questions are straight-forward and ask about devices, usage, and other basic demographic data.
allows you to download the app, easy peasy.  Remember,
In the world of technology, information is valuable. So consumer data is so valuable that people are willing to pay!

Neilsen App $50 Eligibility

In some cases, you might not be eligible depending on your location. But If you are from US / Austrailia / Spanish Speaking you will automatically be eligible. Also considering that a vast majority of their target market is young adults, most millennials will have no problem getting accepted right away.
Remember, you get paid yearly! So it’s not just a one-time $50, if you keep the app installed each year you’ll keep getting $50!

Monthly Sweepstakes

As long as you have one registered device that has the app installed, you will automatically be entered into a monthly sweepstake. The last time I checked, the sweepstakes is worth $10K. Not a bad chunk of change

How Secure is the Nielsen App?

First of all, any type of sensitive data is not monitored. So when you install the app, it just tracks your everyday internet activity. This is to help them understand the latest trends and behavior on various demographics as well as improving products & services. Considering that if you are willing to participate, this shouldn’t be an issue at all.
Remember, there are still dozens of mobile apps on your device that actively track your day to day use without your knowledge and don’t pay you at all. At least Nielsen is honest right out of the gate and they pay.
Finally, you get rewarded for being you!

You Are Anonymous

The biggest misconception is that you as an individual are being monitored when it comes to data usage. While that is the case on some untrustworthy apps, that’s not the case for Nielsen. Your name and your data are kept separate, so you are completely anonymous in the program.
The data is encrypted, bundled with other statistics and research, and then used to make charts, graphs, and text analysis. Nielson doesn’t see “Becky J. browses a lot of anime”, they see, “Female in her early 20’s is engaged online for X hours a day”.
Your personal info will never be used to send promotional offers or advertisements.

All Data Is Secured

I cannot stress this enough, but all of your data is encrypted. This means that all your information is highly secure and virtually impossible to breach.

Nielsen’s Privacy Policy

Taken from their site, here is a snippet of their policy: “We protect the identities of our participants. We will NOT use your personal identifying information (or those of members of your household) to advertise, promote, or sell goods or services directly to you or members of your household; and we do not allow our clients to market directly to you.

Why YOU matter

Your day to day activity can help better understand trends to help create a better experience as a whole for the user. Getting paid for your input isn’t new at all! As a matter of fact, by being apart of the Nielsen mobile panel, you can make more in the future by getting invited to partake in future surveys or even registering more devices with Nielsen.
With the massive growth of mobile devices and tablets, keeping track of online usage is more important than ever in understanding internet behavior.
You can opt-out at any time, so you aren’t locked in. They want to make sure you are 100% okay with participation.

So Why Should I Get Involved?

Nielsen is one of the biggest and most recognizable worldwide companies when it comes to consumer research. Their whole goal is to better understand consumers, nothing more. From their TV ratings and other data they pull, they can help tell what is successful and what isn’t. The fact that the Nielsen Mobile Panel is a fast and simple way to get free cash while doing nothing new is an obvious choice.

Getting Paid To Participate Is More Common Than You Think

In case you aren’t fully up to speed, there are lots of companies that are willing to pay you for your insights. Outside of Niesen Mobile Panel where you make money passively, there are other sites that pay you for filling out surveys!
My favorite site to fill out surveys right now is Survey JunkieYou can get paid between $5-$50+ per survey if you qualify. Sure, it does take more time and energy than Neilsen, but on the flipside, you can make an extra $100+ per month while watching Netflix!
Not to overhype Survey Junkie, but they are also known as the premier online survey site. From its sleek looks and intuitive interface, they make taking surveys fun!

Another popular survey site is LifePoints Survey . While it isn’t the sexiest survey site, they are the oldest survey site in the sense that they have been focusing on Market Research since the 1950’s (before the internet).

What’s unique about LifePoints Survey is that they focus on more public surveys as well as corporations, non-profits, and the government. So whenever you hear new online that says “based on a study of X people…”, yup, that’s where it comes from. So it’s pretty legit.

Similar to Nielsen, signing up for surveys is completely optional. But it’s always great to make semi-passive income on the couch or toilet.

Nielsen is the parent company and Harris X is the company sponsoring Telephia. Telephia is the company that TRICKS you into downloading their app. They track your cell phone usage and they DON’T PAY YOU. They answer a few emails give you the runaround and then stop answering you. They have done this to many many people. Hindsight is 2020. I trusted them because of name recognition so I did not check. I feel like such as fool.
